Metallica / Pantara / Ice Nine Kills / Five Finger Death Punch Mexico City Mexico 9/20/24 & 9/22/24

I am behind writing these reviews, it’s been almost 8 months since we saw this show. This was our 3rd time seeing Metallica on this tour. It was also my first time going to Mexico. I remember how nervous I was going as I had heard a lot of horror stories about Mexico. What I will say about his trip is that overall, we had a good time. We had some really good food. We got to see the pyramids which were cool. I remember the people were really friendly and after the 2nd night being there, I remember not being afraid of being there or of the people. Which might have been a mistake, but I’ll talk about that later.

Night 1 of Metallica I remember getting there and seeing all the police there in riot gear and thinking that is something you don’t see all the time. Guess they are planning on a rough crowd which goes with some of the stories we had heard. We didn’t plan on getting there too early or plan on getting on the rail because of some of the stories we had heard but turns out we ended up on the rail anyway. We hung out there with some friends we had made throughout the tour but before the first band hit, we sold our spots for a couple of beers to some people behind us. For the rest of the night, we just hung out in the back and had a chill night. That night they had replaced Pantera with Greta Van Fleet.  That was our first time seeing them, which I thought they put on a great set, and it was nice change up.

Night 2 before the show as I mentioned we went to see the pyramids and got to the concert just as doors opened so we didn’t even try to get to the rail. We had another chill night in the back. We met some dude that we hung out with. They were buying us drinks all night and there is some question as to whether they might have tried to drug me or not. What I do know is the next day I was pretty sick and there are parts of the night I don’t remember. So, letting my guard down might not have been the best thing but thankfully everyone was safe at the end of the night.

As far as Metallica of course they killed it once again both nights! I was glad that Jess and I got to see them again and in Mexico of all places! It was a once and a lifetime experience and I’m glad I got to do it with her.

The following morning, we saw Ivan Moody at the airport and got a picture with him even though I was sicker than a dog. Then our airplane stopped on the runway as we were taking off with a mechanical issue and we got diverted and our flight was delayed, and we didn’t get home until the following day. Despite the traveling home nightmare issues we went through, it was a fun trip and glad we went and got to experience it.
